Recuva, despite being a data recovery app, comes with one tool that the above options lack a file obliterator. This is a slightly lighter app and has a clunky user interface that can overwhelm inexperienced users, unlike Stellar's intuitive UI. You should note that Recuva doesn't have as rich a feature set as Stellar Data Recovery or Disk Drill. If you have accidentally deleted one of your important documents or files, or otherwise lost your data, then Recuva can help you get it back. Recuva is a data recovery software that comes from the makers of CCleaner. There is a Pro version and an enterprise version (the latter is for companies and offers a discount on the overall price for up to ten users). The free tier only covers you for 500 MB, half that of Stellar's free tier and it also lacks Stellar's extensive feature set. You can use Disk Drill to recover files from a wide range of devices you're not limited to just recovering files you had stored on your internal hard drive or SSD.ĭisk Drill works with a PC or Mac, HDD or SSD (external and internal), USB drives and pen drives, SD and CF cards, digital cameras, and even iPhone and Android smartphones (although at the time of writing only iPhone was available in the list of recoverable devices).Īs with Stellar, there are multiple paid tiers available to you, including a free tier. It claims to allow you to recover literally any file format on your device, including Microsoft Office documents, messages, and even media files. Aside from file recovery, these tiers include unique features such as optical media recovery and RAID recovery both of which set Stellar apart from its competition.ĭisk Drill is a data recovery software available for both Windows and Mac. These are Standard, Professional, Premium, Technician, and Toolkit. Simple!Īside from the free tier, you can also access five other paid tiers. First you select the type of data you'd like to recover, then you select where to recover it from, and then the app will scan for relevant file formats and you can recover them. Recovering your files is as easy as completing three simple steps. Likewise, USB storage media and SD cards are easy to scan and reinstate with Stellar Data Recovery Software. So, if you have a corrupted internal HD or SSD, Stellar has your back and can locate and restore files from those. It is also perfect for use with a wide range of storage media. Stellar's data recovery can restore hundreds of different file types, recover lost photos, videos, and documents, and it can even locate and retrieve files based on file name and file format.

Not really a “Shout-outs kind of person”? I totally get it. It also directly integrates with Slack, simply use the ‘/shout-out’ command, and that’s it □ If your team doesn’t use Slack – all good! They’ll get soft, occasional nudges via email from time to time to share a shout-out about a peer who’s work has gone unnoticed. What I personally love about Shout-outs is that it enables all your team members to give shout-outs to each other – so you cultivate a culture of trust by enabling everyone to positively recognize each other, peer to peer. Here’s a quick screenshot of what it looks like when your team has given each other Shout-outs… Sure, we might drop a quick “Thanks” in Slack occasionally… But it’s not specific, nor is it shared with anyone else on the team.Īs a result, Shout-outs makes it easy and regular for you to give positive recognition in the workplace to your teammates – without it feeling cheesy or stiff. Positive feedback is such an easy thing to forget to do when we’re in the thick of the day to day of our work. It’s all good □ That’s why we built “Shout-outs □”– a brand new feature in Know Your Team to encourage rapport by sharing meaningful positive recognition in your team. Might you accidentally be one of those managers? We’ve made it easy to do well (especially while remote).Īccording to a 2015 Interact/Harris Poll with 1,000 employees, 63% of employees do not think their managers give positive recognition in the workplace. Positive recognition in the workplace doesn’t have to be sterile nor contrived. On multiple occasions we found ourselves jumping or moving Sonic to try and get onto a new area only for him to miss completely or fly off into the distance to a place we didn’t want to go. And once you have the collectible, there’s very little reason to go back up to these areas again.Ĭontrols for running or trying to do pinpoint jumps or platforming also comes off as a bit stiff. While that initially sounds fun, having these massive floating running sections scattered feels out of place and looks like a mess. A large map is great, but the area was littered with different little platform sections with collectibles at the end. The open world for the level on offer was fairly sizeable, stretching a great distance with plenty to explore. Completing these areas gives you Vault Keys, which give you the chance to get the Chaos Emeralds needed to open up to the next level. These Gears then unlock portals that take you to Cyber Space, what’s essentially a level designed around previous fan-favorite Sonic areas like Green Hill Zone or Angel Island. The objective (or flow) of the game is very simple: defeat Guardian enemies around the map to get Portal Gears. You can run around the area freely, fight any mini-bosses you come across, find new abilities and secret levels, and complete puzzles along the way. In the build we played, we find Sonic on Ares Island, the second island in-game, which is set in a desert surrounded by ancient statues, canyons, and mystery. But even for those 30 minutes, the world, the game, and everything we experienced felt bland and devoid of life. The demo build we played was nowhere near final, having been created specifically for Gamescom for members of the media to try out. When the 30 minutes were down and we finally put the controller down, however, the game left us with a lot of concerns about the title as a whole. The demo gave us a first look at the second level of the game where players rescue Knuckles. After a short presentation about the game, we were given roughly 30 minutes to explore the world, test out new gameplay mechanics, and get a feel for what players had in store. Going into the booth, we were cautiously optimistic about what we would find. At Gamescom last week, SEGA invited Dot Esports to check out an exclusive new build and level of the upcoming Sonic game, Sonic Frontiers. Nasa was founded in 1958 and managed to launch Alan Shepard into space in May 1961 – but when John F Kennedy announced that the US “should commit itself to achieve the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the Earth”, it seemed a stretch. When the Soviets launched Sputnik 1 in October 1957 (followed one month later by Sputnik 2, containing Laika the dog), the US space programme was all but non-existent. “But as of 1969, we could suddenly perform manned flight upon manned flight? With complete success? It’s just against all statistical odds.” “It’s well documented that Nasa was often badly managed and had poor quality control,” he told Wired in 1994. Yet until his death in 2005, Kaysing maintained that the whole thing was a fraud, filmed in a TV studio. People who know what they are talking about have wasted hours explaining such “anomalies” (they are to do with, respectively, camera-exposure times, the way thrust works in a vacuum and the reflective qualities of moondust). One is the fact that no stars are visible in the pictures another is the lack of a blast crater under the landing module a third is to do with the way the shadows fall. Kaysing’s original queries are fuelling this. Moon hoaxism was more prevalent among the young: 21 % of 24- to 35-year-olds agreed that the moon landings were staged, compared with 13% of over-55s. Now, in the age of technology, a lot of young people are now investigating for themselves.” A recent YouGov poll found that one in six British people agreed with the statement: “The moon landings were staged.” Four per cent believed the hoax theory was “definitely true”, 12% that it was “probably true”, with a further 9% registering as don’t knows. Martin Kenny claimed: “In the past, you saw the moon landings and there was no way to check any of it. Last year, the daytime TV show This Morning welcomed a guest who argued that no one could have walked on the moon as the moon is made of light. Photograph: It turns out British people love conspiracy theories, too. Every time something big happens, somebody has a counter-explanation.”īill Kaysing, the man who started the moon-hoax conspiracy. “And the truth is, Americans love conspiracy theories. “The reality is, the internet has made it possible for people to say whatever the hell they like to a broader number of people than ever before,” sighs Roger Launius, a former chief historian of Nasa. While Kaysing relied on photocopied samizdat to alert the world, now conspiracists have the subreddit r/moonhoax to document how Nasa was “so lazy” it used the same moon rover for Apollo 15, 16 and 17 or how “they have been trolling us for years” or to bring up the fact there is “one thing I can’t get my head around. A sociology professor in New Jersey was exposed last year for telling his students the landings were fake. The podcast kingpin Joe Rogan is among the doubters. Among 9/11 truthers, anti-vaxxers, chemtrailers, flat-Earthers, Holocaust deniers and Sandy Hook conspiracists, the idea that the moon landings were faked isn’t even a source of anger any more – it is just a given fact. Despite the extraordinary volume of evidence (including 382kg of moon rock collected across six missions corroboration from Russia, Japan and China and images from the Nasa Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter showing the tracks made by the astronauts in the moondust), belief in the moon-hoax conspiracy has blossomed since 1969.
4 See, for example: Soo-hyun Kim and Sohn Wook, “Economic Policy Changes in North Korea: A Text Mining Approach to Economic Research,” Bank of Korea, February 25, 2020. One popular method in recent years has been the use of machine-learning tools to examine huge swaths of North Korean text. There are many approaches to utilize in setting out on such an analytical journey. We assume, and think we can discern, a similar dynamic at work under Kim Jong Un. Some proper nouns will follow internationally recognized spellings or North Korean transliterations instead. Diacritics are replaced with apostrophes. We know, for example, that from 2001 to approximately 2006, Kim Jong Il introduced new economic policies, which sparked different shades of opinion observable in North Korea’s main economic journal Kyo’ngje Yo’ngu 2 This paper uses a modified version of the McCune-Reischauer romanization system for North Korean text. Crucially, it pinpoints articles in the regime’s two premier-and publicly available-economic journals that provide a window into the types of ideas which the regime allows for discussion, and the range of policy choices it appears to have seriously examined over the years. Methodology : This project focuses on the timing and sequencing of innovations introduced under Kim Jong Un and the type of opposition they have encountered. They will have to be formulated, introduced and implemented in a way that builds on what is already there, either in terms of practice or ideas that have already been discussed. New ideas and economic concepts cannot simply be imposed from the outside. Similarly, steps toward inter-Korean rapprochement and unification must resonate within the framework of North Korean thinking and experience. It will be impossible to successfully implement economic initiatives that could support denuclearization without a full understanding of North Korea’s current and future economic policy calculus. How the North Korean economic discourse evolves is critical as the country continues to experiment with new ideas and practices to improve its “economic management methods,” a codeword for the country’s reform-oriented economic measures.Ī central component of progress toward North Korean denuclearization and improved inter-Korean relations, up to and eventually including unification, will be economic. These two issues inevitably have implications for North Korea’s domestic and foreign policy and offer a glimpse of the extent to which Kim Jong Un will carry out economic reform. It revolves around the deeper and broader questions of resource allocation priorities and the balance between central control and latitude in lower-level units. North Korea’s economic policy is not just about trade statistics, budget figures or the impact of international sanctions. Significance of the Economic Policy Question Translations of the North Korean economic journal tables of contents and articles used for this project will also be made available on 38 North. In the coming months, the authors will follow up with analyses of the specific themes they have identified for closer inspection.
